Singing legend Sir Elton john is having trouble with his Eyesight, announcing, âI have lost my Eyesight,â at a gala performance of the âThe Devil Wears Pradaâ musical in London Sunday.
John, who has been dealing with a severe eye infection, said his husband, David Furnish, âhas been my rock,â per a report on CNN.
âI havenât been able to come to many of the previews because, as you know, I have lost my Eyesight. So itâs hard for me to see it. But I love to hear it and, boy, it sounded good tonight,â John said.
The singer wrote the score for the show.
Just last week, John told âGood Morning Americaâ how his lack of Eyesight has affected his work.
âI unfortunately lost my Eyesight in my right eye in July because I had an infection in the south of France and itâs been four months now since I havenât been able to see, and my left eye is not the greatest,â he said.
âSo, thereâs hope and encouragement that it will be OK, but ⌠Iâm kind of stuck at the moment, because I can do something like this (the interview), but going into the studio and recording, I donât know, because I canât see a lyric for a start,â John added.
The 77-year-old âRocket Manâ first mentioned his Eyesight issues in a post shared on Instagram in September.
He said he had been âdealing with a severe eye infection that has unfortunately left me with only limited vision in one eye.â
âI am healing, but itâs an extremely slow process and it will take some time before sight returns to the impacted eye,â John wrote.
âI have been quietly spending the summer recuperating at home,â he wrote. He said he is âfeeling positive about the progress I have made in my healing and recovery thus far.â
John officially retired from touring last year.
