Erika Kirk, widow of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, is invoking her rights to a speedy trial amid what she says are delay tactics from her husband’s accused killer, Tyler Robinson.
According to Fox News, in a court Filing made public over the weekend, her attorney, Jeffrey Neiman, formally notified the Utah court that Kirk is seeking a swift resolution under state law.
“The Utah Code affords victims of a crime ‘the right to a speedy disposition of the charges free from unwarranted delay caused by or at the behest of the defendant,’” Neiman wrote.
The Filing emphasizes that while the court must ensure Robinson receives a fair trial, it also has a duty to protect the victim’s right to avoid prolonged delays. “This Court must balance Mrs. Kirk’s right to a speedy trial,” Neiman added.
