Republican Rep. Tim Burchett of Tennessee introduced a resolution on Wednesday condemning the United Nations (UN) for listing the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) as “child’s rights abusers.”
The UNpublished its “Secretary General’s Annual Report on Children and Armed Conflict” on June 3, which included the IDF alongside terrorist organizations including the Taliban and Al-Shabaab for committing “grave violations against children.” H.R. 1323 calls to reject the UN’s decision, condemns the UN’s “longstanding bias against Israel” and calls on Hamas to free all the remaining hostages.
“This latest stunt by the United Nations is a total joke,” Burchett said in a statement obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation. “Israel is our greatest ally in the Middle East and their leadership tries to protect life. Hamas, on the other hand, hides behind innocent civilians like a bunch of cowards. We need to make it clear to the United Nations that the United States completely supports Israel’s efforts to wipe these terrorists off the map.”
