A medical watchdog organization is calling on hospitals to cut ties with a transgender activist group that awards Healthcare systems for promoting gender ideology and child sex-changes.
Do No Harm released a 36-page report on Aug. 14 titled, āHow The Human Rights Campaignās Healthcare Equality Index Infects Pediatric Hospitals With Gender Ideology,ā outlining how the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) influences hospitals to adopt ideologically driven policies such as requiring leadership to undergo LGBTQ+ training, asking patients if their āgender identityā differs from their sex and offering employees insurance coverage for child sex-change interventions, such as puberty blockers.
āIt is time to expose and root out the Human Rights Campaignās vast influence over Healthcare systems. Our report sheds light on how the HRC weaponized its so-called āHealthcare Equality Indexā to pressure pediatric hospitals into chemically and surgically castrating children,ā Dr. Kurt Miceli, Medical Director at Do No Harm and co-author of the report, told the DCNF.
āBy capitulating to the HRCās political scheme, hospitals have utterly betrayed patients, especially children struggling with gender dysphoria. If health systems care about providing high-quality pediatric care, then they should distance themselves from the HRC and its Index,ā Miceli said. āMedical professionals must learn the truth about pediatric gender medicine and dare to speak out against the harmful model imposed by the HRC and other ideologues.ā
The HRC did not respond to the Daily Caller News Foundationās request for comment.
The report details how the multi-million dollar organization and its ācharity branch,ā the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, are pushing gender ideology into childrenās hospitals through their Healthcare Equality Index (HEI), a scorecard that judges medical institutions based on how they incorporate and promote gender ideology.
āThe HEI itself measures hospitalsā adherence to the tenets of gender ideology, by evaluating Healthcare facilitiesā policies and practices within five major categories,ā states the report.
Hospitals can achieve a perfect score of 100 according to how they meet criteria set by the HRC, such as offering ātransgender-specific clinical services,ā which creates āgreat pressureā for childrenās hospitals to create child sex-change clinics, according to the report.
āHospitals are to offer transgender-specific clinical services and promote a multidisciplinary gender clinic that is distinct from a general LGBTQ+ clinic. This criterion alone places great pressure on the 41 participating pediatric hospitals to start a transgender program, if they have not done so already,ā states the report.
Another criteria of the HEI is that hospitals must encourage staff to participate in HRC approved gender ideology training. In one of the HRC approved trainings, the presenter recommends that hospital staff ask children as young as three about their āgender identity.ā
āSome kids feel like a girl, some kids feel like a boy, some kids feel like something else. What do you feel like? There is no right or wrong answer,ā states the presenter in the HRC approved training, according to the report.
The presenter in the HRC approved training notes its ideal to ask these questions without parents in the room, according to the report.
āThat is a very appropriate and helpful question to ask all pediatric patients. Of course, you want to make sure that youāre asking these questions ideally without the parent or guardian in the room initially so that you get an unfiltered answer,ā states the training according to the report.
In 2024, 41 pediatric hospitals voluntarily participated in the HEI with 20 receiving a perfect score of 100, a distinction Do No Harm says should be viewed as cautionary to the public.
āAll childrenās hospitals that participate in the Healthcare Equality Index with a score of 100 communicate publicly and proudly that they will perform all manner of interventions for the purpose of pediatric medical transition, and they will not tolerate dissenting voices. Our childrenās hospitals clearly need to do better,ā states the report.
āA perfect score on the HEI is anything but perfect.ā
The report ends with a call to action for Healthcare providers and a reminder that ādetanglingā the influence of HRC from childrenās hospitals is a critical step in protecting children from the harms of gender ideology.
āThe roots of gender ideology run deep and wide, carefully and thoroughly watered and fertilized by the champions of pediatric gender transition, the Human Rights Campaign, and their allies. They will not concede defeat. Each of those tangled roots entrenched in our institutions, particularly our Healthcare systems, must be exposed and permanently removed,ā states the report.
Do No Harm called on all hospital employees of āall levelsāāfrom the CEO to Healthcare workersāto reject and speak out against ātrainings and policiesā that promote gender ideology, noting that the āquiet majority must raise its voice.ā
āIt is time for courage. Employees of all levels employed at HEI institutions caring for children need to speak out against the trainings and policies that HRC brought in to promote gender ideology. Now is not the time to āgo along to get along.ā The quiet majority must raise its voice,ā states the report.Ā āCourage is contagious, and there is strength in numbers.ā
