Former Republican Rep. Jason Chaffetz of Utah told Fox News host Harris Faulkner that FBI Director Kash Patel “knows what he’s doing” and the FBI has “far” more information about the assassination of Charlie Kirk than they are currently able to reveal.
Chaffetz appeared on Fox News on Thursday after having spoken with both Patel and President Donald Trump about the horrific the assassination of conservative leader Charlie Kirk, and expressed confidence in the investigation and manhunt.
Kirk was gunned down during a Turning Point USA (TPUSA) event at Utah Valley University Wednesday while taking questions as part of his “Prove Me Wrong” appearances. Chaffetz, who witnessed Kirk’s assassination, said he received a call from Patel Wednesday night.

“The president called me, I was very touched by that,” an emotional Chaffetz told Faulkner, choking up. “He talked about his love of Charlie and his family. That man, Donald Trump, is a rock. That guy is amazing. Everything going on in the world, and the president wanted to see how he was doing. He wanted to talk about that beautiful lady and his family. It was a really good conversation. I am very grateful that we have a president who cares the way he does.”
“The second thing I got was a call from Kash Patel. I have known Kash Patel, the FBI director, for more than a decade. It’s late at night, he’s got a lot on his plate, there’s a lot of local criticism,” Chaffetz continued. “Concerns from me as well about what’s the FBI doing and how is it doing? But I tell you what, I left the call late last night feeling like you have an FBI Director who knows what he is doing, and is pouring every resource, and that they were far ahead of what they could release to the public. So, I wake up this morning, we keep getting these updates. That’s the FBI I signed up for.”
