Americans that have contempt for Israel are anti-American.
Thatâs according to Sen. John Fetterman (R-Pa.) who spoke with Sean Hannity on Tuesdayâs âHannityâon Fox News.
The Pennsylvania senator remains one of Israelâs staunchest Democratic supporter in Congress.
This has endured even though he has faced criticism despite increasing criticism from those who point out issues with the Israeli government and its prosecutions of the wars in Gaza and Lebanon.
Hannity asked, âWhy the deep hatred for Israel? Why?â as he pointed to Democratic socialists like New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
âBecause you have such contempt for Israel, I mean, of course, youâre also anti-American, and youâre anti-Western civilianâ civilization,â Fetterman said. âAnd youâre anti-capitalism and the American way of life. Now, I mean, theyâre all socialists, of course. Now thereâs communists and now Marxists and now theyâre proud of this.â
Watch:
Fetterman was backed by the progressive wing of the Democratic Party when he ran for Senate in 2022. Since then, he has become more independent in his ideology and votes in the Senate.
In March, CNNâs Harry Enten reported Fettermanâs approval rating among Democrats in Pennsylvania had swung 108 points. It went from an approval rating of 68 points above water to 40 points underwater.
In May, âNew Yorkâmagazine reported that during a meeting with staff last summer, Fetterman suggested he would run as the Democratic vice presidential nominee in 2028.
The suggestion did not go over well.
âAlmost all of us had our jaws on the floor, like, âAre you out of your f**king mind? You donât do your job, you canât raise any money, and your entire party hates you,ââ a person who was in the room said.
