Oh, it got spicy on The Five this week, and not in the way the folks over at MSNBC like to pretend it did. Nope. This wasnât a âheated debateâ full of polite disagreements and careful nuance.
This was Greg Gutfeld ripping the curtain off the tired little theater show the left keeps trying to sell every time one of their ideological foot soldiers does something grotesque â like, say, murder a conservative public figure.
This time, the target was Charlie Kirk. And this time, the âboth sidesâ playbook didnât just fall flat. It imploded.
Jessica Tarlov strolled onto that Fox News set with a tote bag full of excuses. âWe donât know enough.â âHe came from a conservative family.â âPolitical violence happens on both sides.â And bless her heart, she tried to spin that tired narrative in front of Gutfeld â the one person on cable news who does not suffer nonsense lightly.
And guess what? He torched her for it.
Letâs pause here for a second. This wasnât just some political disagreement about infrastructure or taxes. Weâre talking about an assassination â the first political assassination in America since 1968. Thatâs not ârhetoric.â Thatâs not âhyperbole.â Thatâs a man shot dead because of what he stood for.
And here comes Tarlov, armed with the same talking points you can find copy-pasted across progressive TikTok accounts and the blue-check brigade on Twitter: We just donât know his motive! Maybe he just snapped! Whoâs to say, really?
Except we do know.
The bullet casing said, âHey fascist! Catch!â
His family said he was driven by hatred for Charlieâs beliefs.
The FBI said he wrote a note about wanting to âtake outâ Kirk.
But sure, Jessica. Letâs give him the benefit of the doubt. Letâs keep pretending this wasnât political so the narrative can stay nice and tidy for your friends in media and academia. Letâs throw in a random Democratâs death in Minnesota, completely unrelated, completely depoliticized, just so the left can keep their precious illusion of moral superiority intact.
Itâs not working anymore.
Because hereâs the thing, the left doesnât want to admit: it is mostly happening on their side now. The fever-pitched rhetoric, the dehumanization, the insistence that conservative views are literal violence â all of that is culminating into something real. Something bloody. Something the mainstream media wonât even put on the front page.
Gutfeld laid it out clearly: we donât need more information. The writing â in this case, literally â was on the casing.
And still, Jessica Tarlov chose to sit there and mouth the exact same lines that people are using to justify, soften, and reframe what was clearly a politically motivated act of terror. Not just soften â excuse. Itâs not even subtle anymore.
(Warning: Strong Language)
Meanwhile, conservatives are supposed to smile and nod through it? Pretend we didnât hear the cheers on social media? Pretend the left hasnât been pushing for the de-platforming, silencing, and outright destruction of people like Charlie for years?
There was no âboth sidesâ when Democrats flooded the streets in 2020 and called it âmostly peaceful.â There was no âboth sidesâ when SCOTUS justices had mobs outside their homes. Thereâs no âboth sidesâ when a Bernie supporter tried to wipe out half the Republican congressional baseball team. And thereâs certainly no âboth sidesâ when someone walks into a crowd, targets a conservative, and fires because theyâve been told â over and over again â that conservatism equals evil.
So no, Jessica. Thereâs no gray area here. No nuance to massage. No time to pivot to an obscure murder in Minnesota and hope it buys you five more minutes of moral ambiguity.
This is about clarity. About recognizing that one side has spent years turning political disagreement into moral warfare â and itâs now producing real-world violence.
Greg Gutfeld said what most Americans are thinking but are too afraid to say out loud: âWe donât care about your both sides argument. That s*** is dead.â
And honestly, maybe itâs about time we all stop pretending that it isnât.
