A caller on âThe Breakfast Clubâ confronted the show hosts Monday for providing limited context on how President Donald Trumpâs White House clash with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy unfolded on Friday.
During the showâs âFront Page Newsâ segment on Monday, âThe Breakfast Clubâ focused on the heated exchange between the two leaders, neglecting to mention that Trump started the meeting off cordially and omitting details of what led to the clash. The caller, during the showâs âGet It Off Your Chestâ segment, called out âThe Breakfast Clubâ for not including how Zelenskyyâs remarks may have contributed to the spat.

âItâs 45 minutes worth of conversation, and actually Trump was very nice and very quiet for a lot of the time until Zelenskyy threatened us and said, we ainât going to feel it now, but youâll feel it later âcause we got this big, beautiful ocean thatâs protecting us,â the caller said. âAnd then thatâs when Trump went off. So, I just want yâall to â I love yâall ⌠people can have the right to agree and disagree on everything, but if youâre going to give the news, give the whole story and not just â and I know we donât have necessarily time for it, but we always focus in on the negative and itâs always like an attack.â
Trump had suggested during the meeting that the U.S. should not be providing more aid to Ukraine than European nations, given that America is separated from the continent by an ocean.
âDuring the war, everybody has problems. Even you. But you have nice ocean and donât feel now but, you will feel it in the future,â Zelenskyy said during the exchange, prompting Trump to push back and criticize the Ukrainian president for âdictat what weâre going to feel.â
The caller further appeared to suggest that the attacks on Trump over the meeting are anti-American.
âItâs like, stand up for America because this is where we are. If people donât love America as a country and as where they were born and where their roots are, people can leave,â the caller continued. âI donât want that. Nobody wants that. But itâs like, letâs stand for America.â
Host Charlamagne Tha God asked if the caller believes that the meeting hurt Americaâs reputation with its allies. âCould you trust America at this point?â he queried.
âWould I trust America for walking us into a war that they couldnât win? That is horrible,â the caller retorted. âPeopleâs lives are being lost, and itâs like, thatâs more important than anything. Than land. You canât replace lives, and people are going in on him for wanting people to stop being killed.â
Charlamagne disagreed with her, saying everyone wants to end the war.
Following the contentious end to the meeting, the scheduled joint press conference between Trump and Zelenskyy was canceled. The White House told the Daily Caller that Trump requested that Zelenskyy depart the White House without signing the two nationsâ finalized deal for mineral extraction in Ukraine.
Trump asserted in a Truth Social post that Zelenskyy âis not ready for peace if America is involved, because he feels our involvement gives him a big advantage in negotiations.â
âI donât want advantage, I want PEACE. He disrespected the United States of America in its cherished Oval Office,â the president continued. âHe can come back when he is ready for Peace.â
Following the meeting, even Republican South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham, a historically staunch defender of Ukraine, scrutinized Zelenskyy for his conduct.
âMost Americans, after what they saw today, would not want Zelenskyy to be their business partner, including me and Iâve been to Ukraine nine times since the war started,â Graham said.
