New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu (R) called comments that President Joe Biden made about Republicans âhorribly insulting.â
During an interview with CNNâs Dana Bash, Sununu was asked about Bidenâs latest attack on the Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement.
When asked if he sees âsemi-fascismâ in his party, Sununu responded, âHorribly insulting. The fact that the president would go out and just insult half of AmericaâŚeffectively call half of America semi-fascist.â
He accused Biden of âtrying to stir up controversy. Heâs trying to stir up this anti-Republican sentiment right before the election. Itâs horribly inappropriate.â
The governor continued, âHe should apologize.â
Acknowledging there are elements of fascism and white supremacy in America, Sununu added that it is also not true that âall the Democrats are communists.â
Sununu explained, âWhen we allow ourselves just to talk in these extremes, we polarize the country.â
Additionally, Sununu pointed out Bidenâs promise that he was going to unite the country.
âAnd then to call half of America fascists?â Sununu said. âHe owes an apology. Thatâs not appropriate. That isnât leadership.â
Watch his comments below:
Biden made the comments while speaking to Democratic donors last week, as IJR reported.
âWhat weâre seeing now is either the beginning or the death knell of extreme MAGA philosophy,â the president said.
He added, âItâs not just Trump, itâs the entire philosophy that underpins the â Iâm going to say something, itâs like semi-fascism.â
Biden went on to tell the crowd he does not respect âthese MAGA Republicans.â
He argued that there are not âmany real Republicans anymore.â
Later in the evening, Biden appeared at a separate rally in Rockville, Maryland, where he made similar comments.
Bidenâs speech was then interrupted by a heckler, as IJR reported.
The heckler accused him of stealing the election.
âFolks! Folks! Folks! Ignorance knows no boundaries,â Biden fired back.
