While some critics of President Joe Biden suggest he is not really in charge of policy decisions, Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) says the commander-in-chief should not get a pass on his policies because he is ādoing exactly what he wants to.ā
Issa was asked to assess Bidenās first year in office during an appearance on Fox Business on Friday morning.
āWell, I think it was best said in his own press conference,ā Issa said. āIf you have no apologies that means you did it deliberately. If you have no apologies that means you meant to do it.ā
He continued, āThe president meant to let more than a million people illegally into the country because it was good for future Democratic votes. He meant to disrupt the supply chain because he thought he could blame the president. He meant to withdraw clumsily from Afghanistan because he believed he could blame his predecessor. And this list goes on.ā
āThis is a presidency that a lot of people keep thinking, āOh, heās out of touch. Poor Joe is so old.ā No. Joe Biden is doing exactly what he wants to do. He surrounds himself with people who support those policies. And those policies are destroying America,ā he added.
The California Republicanās statement appeared to refer to comments made by Biden during a press conference on Wednesday where he said, āI make no apologies for what I didā in regard to the handling of the withdrawal of Afghanistan.
Watch the video below:
Issaās comments pointed to the rate of inflation, which hit a 40-year high in December, the withdrawal from Afghanistan, issues with the supply chain, and the surge of immigration last year when the number of border crossings hit numbers not seen in two decades.
Later Issa claimed that for years Biden āassumed that you could essentially export U.S. jobs and it was OK.ā
ā always been protecting union jobs but export a lot of jobs to offset it. Those policies are really at the core of who heās beenā¦These policies are consistent with it, and there are conflicts,ā he continued.
Finally, he said, āBut the most important thing is itās a conflict with his pledge to protect and defend America from its enemies foreign and domestic. Heās not doing that at all and this is not an accident. Please, Maria, donāt give him a pass because heās old and feeble. He is doing this, he knows what heās doing, and he has to be stopped.ā
