Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) is sharing her plan to ensure Attorney General Merrick Garland is arrested after the House voted to hold him in contempt.
During an appearance on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures,” Luna explained a resolution she plans to introduce on the House floor, which she claims would lead to the chamber’s sergeant at arms arresting the attorney general.
“Several months ago, I introduced a resolution for something called Inherent Contempt of Congress. This is something that Congress has the authority to do, and it hasn’t been done since the early 1900’s…I anticipated that the Department of Justice would not do their job. And so I had this teed up and ready to go. I’ve brought this to Speaker Johnson’s attention,” the congresswoman said.
She added, “And what that allows Congress to do is really be the punitive arm and really hold Garland accountable by using the Sergeant at Arms to essentially go and get him, as well as the tapes, bring him to the well of the house and really be a check-and-balance on the Department of Justice.”
