Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-N.C.) blasted President Joe Biden, calling him an “inept, geriatric despot.”

While delivering remarks on the House floor Wednesday, Cawthorn slammed Biden after the Pentagon announced it would be sending 3,000 troops to assist Eastern European allies amid tensions between Russia and Ukraine.

“The sons and daughters of America are not foot soldiers for your party’s inept, geriatric despot. They are not expendable pawns to be dispatched at the whims of an idiot, tossed carelessly around the world to Godforsaken caves and bloody sandboxes,” Cawthorn said.

He added, “They are Americans, worthy of honor and dignity. The only salute from them Joe Biden deserves involves one finger.”

Cawthorn argued, “American patriots in uniform all signed a blank check to their nation. And already, under this administration in Afghanistan, Joe Biden cashed it for 13 patriots through his reckless incompetence.”

He suggested America’s “greatness is forged in our resistance to interference. The war lobby has no ally in the America-first Republicans. We will preserve our strength through nationalism.”

Defense Department press secretary John Kirby told reporters these “are not permanent moves.”

He added, “They are moves designed to respond to the current security environment. Moreover, these forces are not going to fight in Ukraine. They are going to ensure the robust defense of our NATO allies.”

The Kremlin spokesman, Dmitri S. Peskov, reacted to the announcement.

He said the United States is “igniting tensions on the European continent.”

Peskov explained, “Clearly, Russian concerns are justified and understandable,” adding, “All measures to ensure Russia’s security and interests are also understandable.”

On Wednesday, Biden told CNN the decision is “totally consistent with what I told Putin in the beginning.”

He continued, “As long as he’s acting aggressively, we’re going to make sure we reassure our NATO allies and Eastern Europe we’re there and Article V is a sacred obligation.”
