Republican Oklahoma Sen. Markwayne Mullin told Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk Friday that he believes Judge Jeanine Pirro will be confirmed as U.S. attorney for Washington, D.C., if President Donald Trump officially nominates her.
Trump announced on Truth Social Thursday that he would appoint Pirro as interim U.S. attorney for Washington, D.C., highlighting her background as a former assistant district attorney, county judge and district attorney in New York, along with her tenure at Fox News. During an appearance on âThe Charlie Kirk Show,â Kirk asked Mullin whether he expected Pirro to face any confirmation hurdles in the Senate.

âIf she becomes the choice the president pushed forward with â more than likely she will be, I donât see any reason why she shouldnât just fly right on through,â Mullin said, noting her main challenge would likely be bureaucratic.
âWhatâs going to be her biggest holdup is the paperwork,â he said. Youâre familiar with the paperwork.â
Kirk called the paperwork âa financial colonoscopy,â to which Mullin agreed, adding that Pirro would likely remain in the interim role for a period of time.
âIt takes forever, so sheâll have to stay in this position for a little bit. But I donât think thereâs going to be any problem confirming her at all,â the senator said. âI mean, we did just a real quick ⌠opposition research, just to make sure we wasnât missing anything. And sheâs solid. I mean, obviously she said a lot of stuff that the libs are going to blow out of proportion, but I donât think thereâs any issue at all getting her confirmed.â
Piro was co-host of Fox Newsâ âThe Fiveâ and formerly hosted âJustice with Judge Jeanine,â which started in 2011 and ran until 2022.
âDuring her time in office, Jeanine was a powerful crusader for victims of crime,â Trump wrote on Truth Social Thursday. âHer establishment of the Domestic Violence Bureau in her Prosecutorâs Office was the first in the Nation. She excelled in all ways.â
âJeanine is incredibly well qualified for this position and is considered one of the Top District Attorneys in the History of the State of New York,â the president added. âShe is in a class by herself.â
Trump made the decision about Pirro after revealing Thursday that he would withdraw interim U.S. Attorney for Washington, D.C. Ed Martinâs nomination for the position following Republican North Carolina Sen. Thom Tillisâ refusal to back him.
The president subsequently announced that he would be shifting Martin to other roles in the Department of Justice.
âEd Martin has done an AMAZING job as interim U.S. Attorney, and will be moving to the Department of Justice as the new Director of the Weaponization Working Group, Associate Deputy Attorney General, and Pardon Attorney,â he posted on Truth Social. âIn these highly important roles, Ed will make sure we finally investigate the Weaponization of our Government under the Biden Regime, and provide much needed Justice for its victims.â
