Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott appeared on âHannityâ Tuesday evening to shrug off Democrat Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett calling him âGovernor Hot Wheels.â
Abbott said that, come election time, the Democratic Party will be left âin the dust.â
During a Human Rights Campaign speech Monday evening, Crockett took to the stage to criticize her stateâs Republican leadership, calling Abbott, who is confined to a wheelchair, âGovernor Hot Wheelsâ and also called him a âhot ass mess.â Fox host Sean Hannity asked the governor for his response, saying there was âno way in hellâ Crockett wasnât referring to Abbottâs paraplegic state after she denied the accusation on X.
âWell, Sean, this is another day and another disaster by the Democrats. The reality is they have no vision, no policy,â Abbott said. âThey have nothing to sell but hate, and Americans are not buying it. Itâs one reason why Texas is going to remain red and why Republicans are going to continue to win elections across the country.â
Shortly after graduating from Vanderbilt University in 1984 for his law degree, Abbott was paralyzed by a falling tree while jogging, according to the governorâs official website.

Abbott went on to tell Hannity about what he said were his stateâs accomplishments.
âThe fact, Sean, is that Texas is actually in direct contrast to what she was talking about,â Abbott said. âTexas has ranked number one for the most new jobs in America over the past month, number one for the most new jobs over the past year, and for several years. Texas ranks number one for the most new economic development projects for 13 years in a row.â
âThe bottom line is that Republican states like Texas are leading the way, and with comments like this by Democrats, we will just leave them in the dust in future elections,â Abbott added.
Crockettâs jab at the Republican governor is one of a handful of comments the Democrat lawmaker has made against Republicans and allies of President Donald Trump. During an interview with NBC DFW on Sunday, Crockett said she believes her party should metaphorically âpunchâ Republican Texas Sen. Ted Cruz while discussing the future of Democrats.
Since the comments towards Abbott were made, Crockett took to X, saying that her joke wasnât about the âgovernorâs condition.â
âI wasnât thinking about the governorâs conditionâI was thinking about the planes, trains, and automobiles he used to transfer migrants into communities led by Black mayors, deliberately stoking tension and fear among the most vulnerable,â Crockett wrote.
âAt no point did I mention or allude to his condition. So, Iâm even more appalled that the very people who unequivocally support Trumpâa man known for racially insensitive nicknames and mocking those with disabilitiesâare now outraged,â Crockett added.
Crockett could face formal reprimanding. Republican Texas Rep. Randy Weber said Tuesday he plans to introduce a censure resolution against the Democrat.
