Oh, how the tables turnâand not gently, either.
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries just had what can only be described as a painfully awkward moment that shouldâve sent shockwaves through the mediaâif the media still cared about actual scandals involving Democrats. But, per usual, itâs been crickets from the same crowd that hyperventilates over Trump sneezing in the wrong direction.
Letâs set the stage: a reporter had the audacity (read: spine) to ask Jeffries why the American public should trust Democrats to handle the Jeffrey Epstein story with any level of integrityâespecially considering one of their own, Delegate Stacey Plaskett, was allegedly texting Epstein in real time during a 2019 congressional hearing.
Thatâs right. While everyone else was pretending to be shocked by Epsteinâs existence, Plaskett was allegedly getting coaching tips from him like it was some kind of twisted courtroom reality show. He even allegedly told her âgood job.â And she apparently obliged.
Now, letâs just pause there. Imagineâtruly imagineâwhat the headlines would look like if a Republican congresswoman were texting Jeffrey Epstein during an official hearing. Theyâd have the pitchforks out by lunch and be halfway through her career obituary by dinner. But Plaskett? Protected class, evidently.
Jeffries was given the perfect opportunity to address it. To clarify. To condemn. To say something remotely responsible. Instead, he delivered a masterclass in smug, evasive nonsense. He started rambling about âbipartisan effortsâ and âsurvivor transparencyâ like he was spinning the wheel of talking points at a DNC retreat. Not onceânot onceâdid he mention Plaskett. You could practically hear the gears grinding as he tried to talk his way around the scandal without even touching it. It was a dodge so blatant, even CNN wouldâve blushed.
And it gets richer. Turns out, back in 2013, a Democrat funding group reportedly reached out to none other than Epstein about supporting none other than⌠you guessed it, Hakeem Jeffries. The group allegedly referred to Jeffries as âBrooklynâs Barackâ (pause for laughter) and described him as âan impressive guyâ whoâd be âa progressive voice in New York Politics for years to come.â Oh, heâs a voice alrightâjust not one you want answering tough questions.
Letâs review: Epstein was already a convicted sex offender by then. This wasnât some ambiguous âmaybeâ situation. And still, heâs getting Democratic donor outreach like heâs just a misunderstood hedge fund guy with a yacht and some bad PR.
Itâs no wonder Jeffries has been doing political yoga trying to distance himself from this mess. Especially since every attempt to drag Trump into the Epstein saga has backfired harder than a freshman TikTok economist explaining inflation. Democrats tried linking President Trump to Epstein using emails, Thanksgiving dinner tall tales, and even redacted testimony thatâwhoopsâactually cleared Trump completely. One victim even stated under oath that Trump was never inappropriate and that she never even saw him with Epstein. But go ahead, try to memory-hole that.
Meanwhile, the House Oversight Committeeâled by Republicans, of courseâhas been busy dropping receipts and exposing just how desperate Democrats have been to tie President Trump to Epstein while ignoring the skeletons in their own little progressive closets. Plaskettâs texts. Jeffriesâ Epstein-adjacent email. The attempted smear campaigns that flopped. Itâs starting to look like an entire episode of House of Cards, minus the good writing.
And through it all, President Trump isnât running from the Epstein filesâheâs demanding they be made public. You donât do that if youâve got something to hide. That kind of confidence is hard to fake, and itâs clearly making some Democrats squirm.
So here we are. The party that claimed to be the moral compass of America is now stammering through Epstein questions, tripping over their own narrative, and pretending Plaskett never existed. At some point, theyâll have to answer. And if historyâs any indication, their answers will be every bit as satisfying as Jeffriesâ smirk-and-shrug routine.
Buckle up. The Epstein files arenât going away. And neither is the truth about who was really connected to him.
