Harvard Orders Removal Of Black Lives Matter Sign Amid Stalemate With Trump

Harvard University is reportedly forcing the removal of a Black Lives Matter (BLM) sign put up by teachers in a university building.

A Harvard administrator allegedly told the two professors who displayed the sign in their office windows in Harvard’s Northwest Science Building that it would be removed on Saturday for violating campus rules, according to The Harvard Crimson. The sign, which spans several offices, has been on display since the death of George Floyd in 2020, when BLM protests flooded major cities and college campuses across the nation.

The building manager reportedly gave a letter to the two professors citing the new university guidelines prohibiting “self-mounted displays” by staff and students without prior approval, according to the Crimson. The updated rules were adopted in 2024 following months of anti-Israel protests on campus.

“The letters mounted in several office windows in the Northwest Lab Building constitute a ‘self-mounted display,’” James Chisholm, Harvard’s Faculty of Arts and Sciences spokesman, said in a statement to the 🏢Daily Caller News Foundation. “This is not an approved installation, and that location is not one where exhibits and displays are allowed.”
