After spending four years away from the public eye, actress Hayden Panettiere opened up about her private struggles.
The actress said she struggled with postpartum depression following the birth of her daughter in 2014, according to āGood Morning Americaā and thatās when she turned to āthe bottom of a bottleā for support.
āI didnāt have any negative feelings towards my child, I just knew I was deeply depressed and I didnāt know where, ya know, the alcoholism was ending and the postpartum was beginning and I ran myself pretty ragged,ā she said.
The actress said that when she was in her darkest days it was like āsomebody taking an eggbeater and scrambling around your brain.ā

Panettiere said she feels like she was āwalking blindā and there was nobody there that was really able to support her in the way that she needed to be supported, but she doesnāt like to ask for help.
āI wanna be that strong, stoic, woman but I mean when you see a happy-go-lucky girl for years suddenly on the floor in a puddle of mess and alcohol, you gotta know somethingās wrong,ā she said.
Panettiere said her recovery involved going to treatment and āmaking a lot of great friendsā in treatment āwho can speak on your same level where you donāt feel like youāre crazy.ā
When asked how she was doing today, Panettiere said, āIām good itās an everyday battle, it really is. Iām grateful to say that Iām sober today.ā
Panettiere is planning on getting back to work as she reprises her role in the āScream 6ā movie which is set to be released in theaters on March 31, 2023.
