Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan (R) is speaking out against Republicans who have been silent on President Donald Trumpâs refusal to concede the election.
CNNâs Jake Tapper noted Trump has âdone everything he can to subvert the processâ and overturn the results of the election. He asked Hogan if he still believes the president will eventually âdo the right thingâ and concede.
âWell I have confidence on Jan. 20 the president-elect is going to be sworn in. But Iâm not sure, you know, I could say that Iâm confident that the presidentâs going to do the right thing,â Hogan said.
He argued Trumpâs pressure on legislatures to change election results was âcompletely outrageous.â
âWe used to go supervise elections around the world and we were the most respected country with respect to elections and now weâre beginning to look like weâre a banana republic. Itâs time for them to stop the nonsense. It just gets more bizarre every single day and frankly, Iâm embarrassed that more people in the party arenât speaking up.â

Trumpâs chances of remaining in the White House are dwindling.
He would need to change the results in at least three large states.
He has failed to change the outcomes in states including Georgia, Michigan, and Arizona, as IJR previously reported.
Trumpâs legal team continues to take action based on unsubstantiated claims of widespread voter fraud.
Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) said, âAnd whatâs happened here is quite frankly, the conduct of the presidentâs legal team has been a national embarrassment.â
Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) slammed Trump for refusing to accept his loss, as IJR previously reported.
âHaving failed to make even a plausible case of widespread fraud or conspiracy before any court of law, the President has now resorted to overt pressure on state and local officials to subvert the will of the people and overturn the election,â Romney said.
He added, âIt is difficult to imagine a worse, more undemocratic action by a sitting American president.â
