Many “Home Alone” fans were left shocked after a TikTok user calculated that Kevin McCallister’s grocery bill would cost more than $60 in today’s Economy.
Geoffrey Lyons calculated the math of Kevin buying items such as, a TV dinner meal, a loaf of Wonder Bread, frozen mac and cheese, cling wrap, half a gallon of milk, tide laundry detergent, toilet paper, half a gallon of orange juice, pack of army men and dryer sheets.
In the scene, Kevin gives the cashier a $20 bill for his Groceries, which totals $19.83. Lyons calculated that in today’s Economy, Kevin’s Groceries would cost him $63.73 and after tax, $68. This represents a “248% increase,” Lyons notes in his video, even with Kevin’s coupon saving him $1 off of the orange juice.
