A late-night discovery on the streets of Miami turned into a life-saving moment, thanks to a man who had little more than a bench to call his own.
According to the New York Post, Arnett Johnson, who has been living in the Allapattah neighborhood since his release from prison six months ago, spotted something unusual just before midnight Wednesday — a young boy wandering alone.
Johnson said he immediately sensed something was wrong.
“God sent me there. I had to do what God say to do,” he told Local10.
Before taking action, he checked the surrounding area to see if a parent or guardian might be nearby. When no one appeared, he realized the child was truly alone.
Johnson then called the police and stayed with the 6-year-old, keeping him safe until officers arrived.
“It’s dangerous every day out here, right here. Especially, we got homeless people all together, and you’ve got fixed minds — it’s dangerous,” he said.
