Former Democratic National Committee fundraiser Lindy Li told podcaster Shawn Ryan Thursday that she didnât understand why former Vice President Kamala Harris was prone to âendless word saladsâ in interviews.
Podcaster Joe Rogan called out the Harris campaign Tuesday, accusing it of lying about Harrisâ failure to appear on his show during the 2024 presidential campaign. After Ryan described his failed efforts to land Harris for an interview, Li erupted.
âI donât understand why itâs so hard for her to answer simple questions! I donât understand why she has to do these endless word salads! Like, why is it so hard for you to be human? Just answer the question! You donât have to talk in endless circles!â Lee said. âI just donât get it, and I know her!â

âLike, when I talk to her sheâs fine, but when she does these interviews she becomes like an android, you know what I mean?â Li added. âItâs like, like, Sean, youâre talking to me like a real full-blooded person. Why canât she just be that? You know, we, we donât want⌠ a caricature as president. We want a human being that we can relate to.â
Harris and her running mate, Democratic Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota, largely avoided interviews and press conferences after President Joe Biden announced he would not seek reelection July 21 before they started doing a media blitz in October. Harris also declined an invitation to attend the Al Smith Dinner in person, instead doing a video with former âSaturday Night Liveâ cast member Molly Shannon that was played at the charity event.
âThere are several explanations,â Li said after Ryan asked why she thought Harris struggled during interviews. âSome people say that sheâs just not that intelligent. It could be maybe she canât think on her feet. Maybe she relies on talking points, but I have friends on her staff who tell me that she would get pissed at them for her own lack of preparation,â Li said. âShe would yell, and she would get frustrated at them for her own inability to read the talking points and to internalize them.â
Ryan then aired an excerpt from an October â60 Minutesâ interview Harris did, when she was questioned about the border by correspondent Bill Whitaker. CBS reportedly edited one of Harrisâ responses to a question on the conflict between Israel and the radical Islamic terrorist group Hamas.
âDefinitely didnât seem quick on her feet, but I would still love to interview her and Iâm glad Joe was able to set the record straight,â Ryan said.
âYeah, and Iâm here,â Li said.
âI will give you as many names as you need in order to make the interview happen, because I know her staff, and she will see the request. Itâs just a matter of her willingness, you know, because sheâs so afraid to fuck up.â
