The sister of Kaylee Goncalves told admitted murderer Brian Kohberger Wednesday that Goncalves could have âkicked your fucking assâ had she not been attacked in her sleep.
Kohberger accepted a plea bargain June 30 on four counts of first-degree murder of Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle and Kernodleâs boyfriend Ethan Chapin in November 2022, agreeing to plead guilty in exchange for not facing the death penalty. Alivea Stevenson addressed the court providing a victim-impact statement during the sentencing hearing in Boise, Idaho.
âThe truth is, the scariest part about you is how painfully average you turned out to be. The truth is, you are as dumb as they come. Stupid, clumsy, slow, sloppy, weak, dirty,â Stevenson said. âLet me be very clear: Donât try to convince yourself you matter just because someone finally said your name out loud. I see through you. You want the truth? Here is the one you will hate the most. If you had not attacked them in their sleep in the middle of the night like a pedophile, Kaylee would have kicked your fucking ass.â

Prior to making the plea deal, the judge denied defense motions that would have allowed Kohbergerâs attorneys to suggest that someone else committed the crime and to further delay the trial, which had been scheduled to start August 11.
Idaho prosecutors came under criticism for making the plea deal, since it took the death penalty off the table and Kohberger would not be required to provide details about the crime.
âYes, it will be a long trial. Itâs gonna be a battle start to finish and you donât know the outcome. You are rolling the dice, but thatâs what trial work is. Man up, get in there, do it,â former HLN host Nancy Grace said during a July 2 Fox News appearance. âThatâs what they are paid to do. They have an incredible treasure trove of evidence. And all this business about the family gets to look him in the eye at sentencing. He probably wonât even look at them. And at sentencing they speak, he doesnât. We will never know what really happened. We would learn that at trial, but thereâs not going to be a trial.â
