Democratic Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar on Sunday gave a tepid condemnation of violence against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents after MS NOW host Elise Jordan pressed her to do so.
Border czar Tom Homan on NBC Newsâ âMeet the Pressâ Sunday criticized Democratsâ âhateful rhetoricâ against the ICE agent who fatally shot 37-year-old Renee Good in Minneapolis on Wednesday. After Jordan played a clip of Homanâs remarks on âThe Weekend: Primetime,â she provided Omar the chance to denounce violence against ICE agents.

âCongresswoman, Iâll give you the opportunity right now,â Jordan said. âDo you condemn all violence on ICE agents?â
Rather than issue a condemnation, Omar attacked Homan and President Donald Trumpâs administration.
âI mean, I would say this man has to look into the mirror. He has to look into the administration that he serves. These are people who are calling this mother of three a domestic terrorist,â Omar said. âThey are saying people are out there committing terror. And it is unconscionable the way in which they are describing the American public against law enforcement that are trained to protect and serve them. And, I mean Iâm at a loss of words to hear him say what he just said.â
âBut yes or no, you do condemn violence on any ICE agents?â Jordan followed up.
Omar then offered a vague and broad condemnation.
âOf course, we all condemn any violence, whether itâs on ICE agents or the public,â she said.
The ICE agent, Jonathan Ross, shot Good during an operation when she allegedly accelerated her car toward him as agents surrounded her vehicle.
After the shooting, Democratic Mayor Jacob Frey of Minneapolis demanded that ICE âGet the fuck out of Minneapolisâ during a Wednesday press conference. Democrats have also labeled the shooting a murder, while the Trump administration has maintained that it was self-defense.
There were 99 vehicle attacks on federal law enforcement from Jan. 20 to Nov. 18, marking twice the amount during the identical time period in 2024, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
DHS Secretary Kristi Noem said during a Wednesday press conference that Ross was the victim of a vehicle attack in June when an anti-ICE rioter rammed him with his vehicle and dragged him. She also alleged coordinated groups were teaching individuals to weaponize vehicles during law enforcement operations.
