Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) launched a vulgar and unapologetic tirade against slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk after his assassination at Utah Valley University.
According to the New York Post, Omar openly mocked tributes to the Turning Point USA founder and dismissing claims that Kirk promoted civil political discourse.
āThere are a lot of people who are talking about him just wanting to have a civil debate,ā Omar sneered to progressive outlet Zeteo. āThese people are full of sā and itās important for us to call them out while we feel anger and sadness.ā
Kirk, a prominent conservative voice and advocate for free speech on college campuses, was fatally shot Wednesday in Orem, Utah, sparking national outcry and bipartisan condolences ā but Omar was not among those offering sympathy.
Instead, the far-left congresswoman used the moment to reignite political attacks, accusing Kirk of minimizing the death of George Floyd and opposing Juneteenth.
āThere is nothing more fāed up than to pretend that his words and actions havenāt been recorded and in existence for the last decade or so,ā she said.
Omar also accused Kirk of posting āhateful rhetoricā on social media and appeared to imply that mourning him without addressing his political stances was disingenuous.
Her explosive comments come at a time of heightened national tension following Kirkās assassination, with increased security surrounding high-profile conservative figures and renewed calls for civility in political discourse ā calls Omar appeared to brush aside.
While most of Congress, including Vice President JD Vance, President Donald Trump, and even sports organizations like the Yankees, paid tribute to Kirk, Omar took the opportunity to vilify the late activist, igniting outrage among conservatives and deepening political divides in the wake of his killing.
