Texas officials announced Tuesday that a Venezuelan native and illegal migrant was arrested after allegedly striking and killing an 18-year-old woman.
On Sunday, illegal migrant Daikerlyn Alejandra Gonzalez Gonzalez allegedly struck 18-year-old Ava Moore with a jet ski at Grapevine Lake in Texas. In a press release from Texas Attorney General Ken Paxtonâs office, the attorney general called out the âsenseless deathâ and said officials will work to âsecure justiceâ for Moore.
âAva Mooreâs senseless death was caused by an illegal alien who should have never been in our country in the first place,â Paxton said. âMy heart breaks for Avaâs family and friends, and my prayers are with them as they face this tragedy.â
âMy office will continue to work with local, state, and national law enforcement partners to secure justice for Ava,â Paxton added.
According to officials, after Gonzalez allegedly struck Moore, the Venezuelan native proceeded to flee the scene with another male illegal alien, âsubsequently committing a hit-and-run after striking another vehicle.â Paxtonâs Fugitive Apprehension Unit then tracked and arrested both illegal migrants, working with Texas Parks and Wildlife, the Grapevine Police Department, the Dallas Police Department, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
Since President Donald Trump returned to office in January, border encounters have fallen by 93%, with migrant crossings dropping by 99.9%. The administration has continued its efforts to apprehend criminal illegal migrants and deport them to their home countries.
In April, the Trump administration lined the White House North Lawnâs perimeter, highlighting the presidentâs 100-day push to crack down on the millions of illegal migrants who entered under the Biden-Harris administration.
The DHS and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcementâs Enforcement and Removal Operations carried out a series of high-profile arrests of migrants with criminal records within Trumpâs first 100 days in office.
DHS first released photos of illegal migrants to the Daily Caller News Foundation, showing a handful of individuals involved in crimes, including criminal sexual conduct, aggravated sexual assault of a child, and gang ties.
