Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) has been under attack by conservative influencers since announcing her decision to freeze her eggs.
The Trump White House is not in favor of this criticism for fear it will alienate women before the midterms.
Ocasio-Cortez, 36, posted an Instagram video Saturday showing herself administering an injection as part of the egg-freezing process.
“Don’t be weird about this, even though I know all of you will be,” Ocasio-Cortez said, later explaining why she was sharing her personal journey.
“I think it’s important for us as leaders to have these conversations, conversations, and share these processes, especially for working women across the country, and normalize them,” she said. “This is a choice that I am making to feel more in control of my life.”

Axios has reported these reactions have caused unease inside President Donald Trump’sWhite House.
“We most certainly want to encourage more women and families to have children, period,” a senior White House official said Tuesday. “That’s a diplomatic way of saying, ‘Yes, the Matt Walsh messaging is not helpful.'”
“This isn’t really a winner for Republicans,” a Trump adviser added.
Katie Miller, wife of Trump aide Stephen Miller, who welcomed her own baby in June, lauded and defended Ocasio-Cortez.
