Former President Donald Trump is facing criticism for comments he made about Israel and its prime minister.

Israeli Communications Minister Shlomo Karhi told Israel’s Channel 13 it is ā€œshameful that a man like that, a former U.S. president, abets propaganda and disseminates things that wound the spirit of Israel’s fighters and its citizens.ā€

ā€œWe don’t have to bother with him and the nonsense he spouts,ā€ he added.

His comment referred to remarks Trump made on Wednesday where he blasted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Trump spoke about the 2020 strike that killed Iranian General Qasem Soleimani.

ā€œIt was all over, and we did. But I’ll never forget, I’ll never forget that Bibi Netanyahu let us down. That was a very terrible thing, I will say that,ā€ he continued.

In case you missed it:

He went on to talk about what led Israel to miss Hamas’ planned attack and urged officials there to ā€œstraighten it out.ā€

He returned to the Soleimani strike and said he was ā€œdisappointed by that, very disappointedā€ by Israel before accusing Netanyahu of trying to take credit for the strike, which he said, ā€œDidn’t make me feel too good.ā€

Trump also called Hezbollah ā€œvery smart.ā€

White House spokesman Andrew Bates weighed in as well and called Trump’s statements ā€œdangerous and unhinged.ā€ Meanwhile, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) said, ā€œNow is not the time to be attacking our ally.ā€
