āI just have to get over the fact that Iām 80 years old and I live in a country that has put a felonious bigot, who has no idea of what the world is like, is the most parochial, secular person that you could imagine,ā Carville said. āAnd I donāt know what percent of this defeat is because we didnāt embrace the change message or we kept something too long ā was there some flaw in our strategy, in our presentation? But at the end of the day, thereās still a lot of people that voted for this.ā
āAnd everything people in Texas knew about Ted Cruz, and the thing that hurts so bad, is Colin Allred is the very definition of a really fine person. So, Iām gonna just ā Iāll have to reevaluate,ā he added. āIām sure Iāll come up with something to make me feel good again, but right now, today, itās hard, Iāll be honest with you. And the hardest thing is that I look across this country, and tens of millions of people fell for this shit, and itās just, itās depressing, but I will snap out of it.ā
Trumpās victory was fueled in part by increasedĀ support fromĀ HispanicĀ andĀ black men.
āItās not hard to say thereāve been plenty of criminals, charlatans, conmen, traitors, scumbags ā weāve had all of that before. But I donāt ā weāve never had remotely ā and people embracing and endorsing this is ā itās just, itās sickening,ā Carville said. āBut this guy got 50%, okay? They can make the argument Hitler never got 33. Okay, this is frightening that we would get here, and by the way, in 4% unemployment. Okay, I mean, Iām sorry.ā
The Democratic strategist added that he is currently āin a very, very dark tunnel.ā
Carville on Wednesday attributed Harrisā loss to President Joe Bidenās ālateā JulyĀ exit from the race, the vice presidentās failure to distinguish herself from him and āa sense of disorder.ā However, radio host Charlamagne Tha God asserted on Wednesday that economic factors and safety were major driving forces behind Trumpās victory, while also disputing the notion that he won solely based on bigotry.
