Actor and singer Zachary Levi sent a message to âclosetedâ conservatives in Hollywood Monday that it is ânow or neverâ for them to publicly express their true political views and support for Republican nominee Donald Trump.
âThe Viewâ co-host Whoopi Goldberg said during an Oct. 1 segment that Leviâs previous claim that Hollywood is a âvery liberal townâ is âB.S.,â naming actors Jon Voight and Dennis Quaid as examples of âworking Republicans in the industry.â Levi, in response to Goldberg, argued in an Instagram story that âclosed Trump votersâ in Hollywood should not allow their fears of âramificationsâ hold them back from supporting Trump since the industry âwill not exist very soon.â
âThereâs plenty, and theyâve sent me lots of messages, plenty of people in my industry, in Hollywood, that are terrified to publicly say that they would vote for Donald Trump or be conservative in any way,â Levi said. âThatâs why you donât see them, thatâs why theyâre not very prevalent or prominent because they know that thereâs ramifications for this kind of shit. But like I said, yâall, our industry gonna be fuckin gonzo, it already is. Weâre getting eroded, the pandemic and the strikes and all of these things, theyâve already eroded so much. So, anyway, my cry to all of you out there, you closeted conservatives, closeted Trump voters, itâs now or never.â
âDo whatever you feel like you need to do. If you need to come out publicly and say it, if you still canât, then donât. I would never pressure you to do that. But know that, if what youâre afraid of is somehow the backlash of an industry thatâs not going to exist very soon, then donât let that hold you back,â Levi continued.

The âShazam!â actor said that Hollywood likely had more of a political balance in the past, but nowadays a star has to be âat a certain level in careerâ in order to publicly express any conservative opinion.
âTo Whoopiâs point, back in the day there may have been more of a balance,â Levi said. âAnd there have always been more conservative-leaning stars that have been able to say those things. But you really have to be at a certain level of your career in order to get away with it, number one. But number two, that was also back then. And I think naming just Jon Voight and Dennis Quaid, and really could only name Jon Voight, Whoopi, someone else had to help you with Dennis Quaid, of the thousands of actors in Hollywood, that you could only name two, I think actually speaks to that.â
Levi endorsed Trump during a Sept. 28 rally in Michigan before introducing former presidential candidates Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Tulsi Gabbard to the stage. The actor said he grew up in a Christian conservative family that taught him to have âa healthy level of distrust for the governmentâ and for an âindustry that runs amok.â
