The Left has lost its mind and canât find its voice. I should know; I just I came face to face with their bare-knuckle tactics. My offense was pointing out political reality.
Specifically, while appointing a rally held by federal union workers, I called out to one of their speakers, Democratic Rep. Jamie Raskin of Maryland, âJamie, why did you lose the popular vote? Why did you lose all seven swing states?â Immediately, I was pummeled and dragged away by a pair of thugs in the crowd while the rest of them shouted abuse.
Iâm not bringing this up to lick my wounds. Iâm bringing it up because itâs symptomatic of two wider, disturbing, and deeply related trends on the political Left: namely, their cognitive dissonance and their increasing willingness to resort to fists over facts. Which, frankly, anyone shouldâve seen coming. The woke Left canât win the argument, and they know it. Whatâs more, because the American people know it, too, the Leftâs ability to censor their opposition out of existence is gone. So now, because they canât use the legal force of government, theyâve gone full gangster.
You have only to look at the behavior they praise to see this in action. I hate to give this more airtime, but look at Taylor Lorenzâs schoolgirl gushing about the cold-blooded murderer Luigi Mangione. Look at the near-sainthood conferred on the bloody murderers, kidnappers, and rapists of Hamas in the once-hallowed halls of Harvard. Look at Democratic leaders making martyrs out of the thugs of MS-13 and Tren de Aragua. Look at the outpouring of cash and love for Karmelo Anthony, the boy charged with murdering 17-year-old white teen Austin Metcalf. And, of course, look at the fact that Democrats wish Thomas Matthew Crooks had succeeded. Look at the âassassination cultureâ which is rising in their party like a cancer.
The reason for this, too, is entirely obvious. They not only have lost the debate; they regard the entire idea of rational debate as inherently suspect. You may not remember this (or may not want to), but back in 2021, the Smithsonian unveiled guidelines for talking about race which included the laughable notion that âobjective, rational, linear thinkingâ is an aspect of âwhiteness.â That kind of thinking speaks for too many on the Left.
Imagine what kind of intellectual laziness that attitude produces in a political movement. People who believe that (or something like it) will never try to back up their grievances, or even check if theyâre real. They will never look for evidence to support what they say. They will do nothing but take it on faith that whatever the rest of their movement says is axiomatically infallible, and that anyone who refuses to accept this revealed truth must be irredeemably depraved, and insane. Or just âdeplorable.â
Now, for a movement which expects to hold power forever because, as Stephen Colbert sneered in 2006, âreality has a well-known liberal bias,â this is understandable. But what happens when reality ceases to cooperate? What happens when this arrogance not only doesnât pan out, but loses them both the popular vote, and all seven swing states? What happens when the âdeplorablesâ they assumed they could silence and shun suddenly gain the power to knock down their false academic temples, uproot their fake morality, and salt the toxic ground in which it grew with the full approval of the American people? They are left not just without arguments, but without even having learned the ability to argue. All they can do is scream and throw punches. In short, all they can do is show America how stupid â and unstable â they really are. Iâm glad I could help reveal that; Iâm sure I will not be the last.
