Jacob Blake’s uncle, Justin Blake, is taking aim at President Donald Trump for his rhetoric after his nephew, a Black man, was shot several times in the back by a white police officer in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

Justin Blake addressed a crowd outside of the church where Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden held a community meeting on Thursday.

He challenged the crowd to consider what they want for the nation moving forward, and reminded them the president is not the right choice.

ā€œWe need to look at our morals and our ethics, where we stand Black and white. What direction do we want to go in as a country?ā€ Justin Blake said.

He added, ā€œDon’t let some orange man break us all down and drive us into the gutter. We’re more than that. We’re smarter than that.ā€

Justin Blake went on to criticize Trump for spreading false information and defended his nephew.

ā€œInnuendos, gaslighting, and outright lies come out of the White House, and I’m here to tell you we don’t have to lie to nobody,ā€ Justin Blake said.

He added, ā€œMy nephew and everybody saw the video. He had no weapon. All he received was bullets.ā€

Biden also criticized Trump during his visit to Kenosha, as IJR previously reported.

He accused Trump of legitimizing ā€œa dark side of human natureā€ in his response to white supremacists.

Biden joined the Blake family for an in-person conversation while Jacob Blake and his mother joined by phone, as IJR previously reported.

Ben Crump, the family’s attorney, said in a statement the family was ā€œgratefulā€ for the meeting and was ā€œvery impressedā€ Biden and his wife were so engaged and willing to listen.

He explained it was clear Biden ā€œcaredā€ because he treated Jacob Blake with a sense of ā€œhumanity.ā€
