Democratic strategist James Carville claimed on âPolitics War Roomâ Thursday that assassinated Turning Point USA (TPUSA) founder Charlie Kirk was a nobody compared to slain Hollywood director Rob Reiner.
Kirk is widely believed to have played an important role in President Donald Trumpâs 2024 election victory and led the influential youth organizations TPUSA and Turning Point Action. Carville said on his podcast that Reiner was so much more important than Kirk that it was unfair to even compare the two.
LISTEN:Â
âCharlie Kirk ⌠Some kindergarten teacher forwarded some things he said about women. I would urge anybody to look at that. And they fired her ⌠And Iâm sorry. I donât want anybody to get shot,â Carville said. âHe has young kids. I hate that. But Charlie Kirk was not a pimple on Rob Reinerâs ass when it comes to influence, when it comes to impact, when it comes to anything else. I donât want to say anything bad, but for Godâs sakes, donât dare compare Charlie Kirk to Rob Reiner. Thatâs not fair.â
Trump posthumously awarded Kirk Americaâs highest civilian honor, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, on Oct. 14, just over a month after his Sept. 10 assassination. The president also signed a proclamation declaring Oct. 14 a âNational Day of Remembrance for Charlie Kirk.â
âOn the afternoon of Wednesday, September 10, 2025, pure evil struck when the legendary Charlie Kirk was assassinated in broad daylight in a campus courtyard, triggering a groundswell of righteous fury all across our land,â the proclamation states.
âToday, our Nation honors the immortal memory of Charlie â a father, a husband, a Christian martyr, and a titan of the American conservative movement,â the proclamation continues. âWe honor his life, we send our condolences to his beautiful family, and we pledge to advance the values for which he laid down his life.â
Moreover, TPUSA held a memorial service on Sept. 21 for Kirkâs supporters and friends at Arizonaâs State Farm Stadium, with thousands gathering to honor the 31-year-oldâs legacy. Supporters told the Daily Caller News Foundation during the service how Kirk had influenced their lives, with some becoming emotional.
Reiner was a respected actor and director credited for creating several classics and cult comedies, including âThis Is Spinal Tap,â âThe Princess Bride,â âWhen Harry Met Sallyâ and âA Few Good Men.â He first achieved Hollywood fame as an actor playing Meathead on âAll in the Family.â
He was also a prominent Trump critic.
