Jason Kelce, known for his offensive prowess in the NFL, went on the defensive Monday to support his wife who was called out for being a bad homemaker.
Kelce, the former Philadelphia Eagles center, took to X, formerly Twitter, after a post about his wife, Kylie.
USA Today reported that Jason Kelce said Kylie was āa little frustratedā by the remarks made by Harrison Butker during a commencement ceremony at Benedictine College.
Jason Kelce made that comment during a recent episode of āNew Heightsāpodcast with his brother, Travis Kelce, who is teammates with Butker.
The Kansas City Chiefs kicker set off a firestorm after his speech, which included the role of women in society.
On Monday a post on X, formerly Twitter, attempted to call our Kylie Kelceās job as a homemaker.
āYour wife is a homemaker. But you canāt support butker.And your wife is a homemaker whose home is a mess. Sorry but it is dirty and messy on television. Seems youāre a bit hypocritical. Yāall are going to be left with nothing but swifties. You just ruined your gig. Itās a shame,ā the post read.
Jason Kelce responded by stating he and his wife are a team at home.
āI donāt think of Kylie as a homemaker, I think of her as my wife. I think of her as a mother. She has an occupation, as do I, and we keep our house the best we can. Our marriage is a partnership, we are equals who are figuring it out on the daily,ā he said.
āThe only expectation is that we love each other, support one another, and are committed to our family, that comes first. ā¦ If being a homemaker, works for some, and thatās what they want, then hell yea, thatās awesome, more power to you. I want to be clear, Iām not downplaying that at all, but that is not our family dynamic,ā he added.
The NFL has distanced itself from Butkerās comments.
However, Butker remains steadfast in his statements.
Butker told a group in Nashville on Friday night that talking about his Catholic faith and his opinions is āa decision Iāve consciously made and one I do not regret at all.ā
