Vice President JD Vance fired back Sunday at ABC host George Stephanopoulos for going down a âweird left-wing rabbit holeâ focusing on a âbogus storyâ rather than issues he believes matter to Americans.
Stephanopoulos repeatedly asked Vance on âThis Weekâ if border czar Tom Homan accepted $50,000 in cash from Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agents in 2024. The vice president told Stephanopoulos point-blank that few Americans trust his reporting because he is focusing on left-wing narratives rather than important issues, such as the government shutdown.
âHereâs, George, why fewer and fewer people watch your program and why youâre losing credibility: because youâre talking â for now five minutes â with the vice president of the United States about this story regarding Tom Homan, a story that Iâve read about, but I donât even know the video that youâre talking about. Meanwhile, low-income women canât get food because the Democrats and Chuck Schumer have shut down the government. Right now, weâre trying to figure out how to pay our troops because Chuck Schumer has shut the government. You are focused on a bogus story.â
âYouâre insinuating criminal wrongdoing against a guy who has done nothing wrong instead of focusing on the fact that our country is struggling because our governmentâs shutdown.Letâs talk about the real issues, George. I think the American people would benefit much more from that than you going down some weird left-wing rabbit hole where the facts clearly show that Tom Homan didnât in any criminal wrongdoing,â Vance continued.

Stephanopoulos rejected Vanceâs criticisms and accused him of not answering the question. As Vance started to respond, Stephanopoulos abruptly ended the interview while the vice president was in mid-sentence.
Vance later responded to the exchange on X, claiming Stephanopoulos does not care about the real issues.
âPeace in the Middle East? China threatening critical supply chains? Government shutdown? George S doesnât care about that. Heâs here to focus on the real story: a fake scandal involving Tom Homan,â Vance wrote.
