Democratic Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman criticized the Biden administration during a Thursday MSNBC appearance for not releasing files about registered sex offender Jeffrey Epstein when it was in office.
A discharge petition regarding files connected to the disgraced financier, who committed suicide while awaiting trial after he was arrested in 2019, reached the threshold to force a vote in the House of Representatives on Wednesday. Fetterman told āMorning Joeā co-host Jonathan Lemire that releasing the files was āentirely appropriate.ā
āI think whatās going to happen is itās entirely appropriate, you know, release everything and release all of them,ā Fetterman said. āYou know, another one of my questions is like ⦠we sat on those for four years, too. So, I mean, I donāt really understand, you know, either. I mean, there are a lot of questions.ā

āSo, when everything is released and everything comes out and then weāll have a more full picture of exactly whatās involved and all of these kinds of things,ā Fetterman continued. āSo yes, I do believe there will be enough votes to release those files, and then we can have the opportunity to absorb all of it in the totality of it.ā
Emails from Michael Wolff reportedly advised Epstein on how to blackmail President Donald Trump or derail his 2016 presidential campaign. Trump was told in May that his name was one of many in files tied to the disgraced financier, the BBC reported.
Virginia Giuffre, one of the most prominent victims of Epstein, did not accuse Trump of misconduct in her posthumous memoir released on Oct. 21, roughly six months after she committed suicide. Giuffreās ghostwriter told āPeopleā that Giuffre was a huge fan of Trump, believing he would release the Epstein files.
Victims of Epstein told NBC News reporter Hallie Jackson during a Sept. 3 panel that they had no knowledge of any wrongdoing by Trump. The attorney who represented some of Epsteinās victims, Bradley Edwards, described Trump as someone who aided his efforts in a 2018 video.
āThe only thing that I can say about President Trump is that he is the only person who in 2009, when I served a lot of subpoenas against a lot of people ⦠he is the only person that picked up the phone and said, āletās just talk, Iāll give ya as much time as you want, Iāll tell ya what you need to know,āā Edwards said in the 2018 video.
āAnd was very helpful in the information that he gave, and gave no indication whatsoever that he was involved in anything untoward whatsoever,ā Edwards continued.
Epstein had extensive ties to celebrities, politicians, and executives, even after he was a convicted sex offender. Among those who were known to have been close were L Brands founder Lex Wexner, director Woody Allen, and Prince Andrew.
