After years of defending every bumbling move of the Biden administration like her MSNBC contract depended on it (because, letâs be honest, it did), Joy Reid is now out of a job andâpoof!âsuddenly full of questions, Republicans have been shouting from the rooftops since day one. Questions like: Hey, why didnât Merrick Garland do anything useful with the Epstein Files for four straight years?

Former Attorney General Merrick Garland, the human snooze button of American justice, who somehow managed to occupy one of the most powerful seats in government and leave absolutely no meaningful legacy behindâunless you count weaponizing the DOJ against parents at school board meetings.
Reidâs mini-rant started with the pipe bomb investigation from January 6, which, by the way, Trumpâs DOJ wrapped up faster than Garland could find his reading glasses. Then she pivoted hard into the Epstein Filesâthe elephant in the room Democrats have pretended doesnât exist since the day the cameras conveniently malfunctioned in Epsteinâs jail cell.
âI donât understand why he escapes the smoke,â she said. Well, welcome to the party, Joy. Republicans have been asking that exact same thing for years. Garland, despite sitting on mountains of evidence and having every opportunity to uncover the truth behind one of the darkest sex trafficking scandals in modern history, allegedly did absolutely nothing. Reid even admitted as much: âHe might as well not have been there.â
Now, letâs pause for a moment. This is coming from Joy Reid. The same Joy Reid who spent most of the Biden presidency lobbing grenades at conservatives while holding water for the party that had zero interest in unsealing the Epstein networkâs dirty laundry. Funny how the curiosity only kicks in once Democrats are out of power and thereâs no more access to influence or cozy interviews.
The truth is, Garland had the Epstein files. He had the time. He had the tools. What he didnât have was the willâor, perhaps more accurately, the clearance from above. Because letâs not kid ourselves: releasing those documents could get very messy for a lot of very rich, very powerful, andâdare we say itâvery politically connected people. People the Biden administration had no interest in upsetting.
And yet, here we are in 2025, with President Donald Trump back in the White House, J.D. Vance as his VP, and the DOJ actually moving to release the Epstein files, thanks to the Epstein Files Transparency Act signed into law just weeks ago. Suddenly, names are about to be named, documents are about to be unsealed, and a lot of folks who once thought they were untouchable are probably sweating through their $3,000 suits.
You know what we didnât hear from Joy Reid during Bidenâs term? A single peep about Merrick Garlandâs inaction. Not one viral segment. Not one scathing monologue. But now that sheâs off the air and outside the echo chamber, suddenly sheâs asking real questions. Almost like she finally realized that maybe, just maybe, the people she spent years defending werenât all that interested in justice after all.
So yes, itâs ironic. Yes, itâs late. But itâs also telling.
Even Joy Reid canât spin this one anymore. And that alone should make you wonder: if the mainstream mediaâs most loyal defenders are jumping ship, whatâs really in those files?
