Actress Justine Bateman revealed she doesnât fear getting older anymore.
In an interview with the âTodayâ show on April 3, Bateman, 57, shared why the topic of Aging has become so controversial.
âWell, I think itâs really about fear,â she told co-hosts Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie. âI think that everybody has a completion to this sentence: âIâm afraid if people think I look old then, therefore, ____,â and for different people itâs different things.
Continuing, she said, âSome are afraid theyâll lose their job or never get a job or not get a mate or no oneâs going to listen to them or whatever. My position is that fear existed before your face started changing. So itâs an opportunity to take care of that fear so itâs not leading you around by the nose and making you make other decisions that are not you, taking you off track.â
Bateman emphasized she doesnât consider herself âan activistâ for Aging but that she is âjust somebody who got myself on the other side of what that fear wasâ for herself.
She also stated she is just âsharing what workedâ for her to help others âget free.â
In an interview with â60 Minutes Australia,â Bateman, who is the author of  âFace: One Square Foot of Skin,â which was released in 2021, revealed her journey started after a Google search of her name autocompleted into âlooks oldâ when she was only 42.
âWhen you say, âIs there beauty in Aging?â arenât you really saying, âDo you think itâs possible for other people to find Aging beautiful?â And like, I just donât give a sâ,â she said.
She added, âLike, I think I look rad. I think my face represents who I am. I like it and so thatâs basically the end of the road.â
