Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.) has released a statement announcing his endorsement of Joe Biden for president.
On Friday, Kaine confirmed that he will be voting for Biden in the upcoming Virginia primary, according to Bidenās campaign press release. He also commended former President Barack Obama for choosing Biden as his running mate.
Kaine admitted he witnessed āfirst-handā what Biden has accomplished.
āI will vote in the Virginia presidential primary for Joe Biden. Barack Obama wisely chose Joe as his partner in the White House, and for eight years, Vice President Biden worked hand-in-hand with President Obama to rescue the American economy from catastrophe, expand health care to millions of people, revive creative diplomacy to keep Americans safe, tackle global challenges like climate change, and appoint high-quality people across the executive and judicial branches of our government. As a Senator, I saw first-hand Joeās role in these accomplishments.ā
Shortly after the press release was issued, both Kaine and Biden took to Twitter with separate statements about the announcement.
Kaine tweeted an excerpt from his press release that offered his opinion of the current administration. He also highlighted the traits he admires in Biden.
āAmerica is afflicted by a President who delights in division, cruelty, lies, and chaos. We deserve better in the Oval Office. In Virginiaās primary, I will proudly vote for . Joe has exemplary heart, character, and experienceāand heās a leader our kids can look up to.ā
Biden tweeted with a statement of his own shortly after.
The Democratic presidential hopeful shared a photo of himself with Kane tweeting, āSenator Kaine is an incredible public servant. Virginians are lucky to have him representing them in the Senate ā and Iām honored to have his endorsement.ā
The announcement comes just days before Super Tuesday and the Democratic primaries in South Carolina and Virginia.
