White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany is weighing in on how Democrats have responded to the intensifying protests breaking out across the nation.
The host of Fox Newsâ âAmericaâs Newsroomâ Sandra Smith mentioned Vice President Mike Penceâs speech he delivered at the Republican National Convention on Wednesday night.
Pence told Americans Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden remained silent on protests and proceeded to call for an end to the violence.
Smith noted the Biden campaign released a statement in response to Penceâs speech.
The campaign claimed instead of providing a âroadmapâ to defeat the coronavirus, Pence âonly offered debunked scare tacticsâ and âgaslightingâ to further divide the nation.
Smith asked McEnany how she would respond to the statement.
âFirst, we talk about COVID and the economy pretty much every day here at the White House with the presidentâs briefings. But, itâs a real travesty that it took the Democrats this long to mention the violence in our streets,â McEnany said.
She added, âThat it was ignored when they had the biggest platform, it was entirely ignored. There are little babies like Legend Taliferro that have died in their beds because of gun violence, and the Democrats have been deafeningly silent while weâve taken action.â

McEnany slammed both the media and Democrats for âaidingâ and âabettingâ the violence.
President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday he is sending federal law enforcement and the National Guard to Kenosha, Wis. after protests escalated, as IJR previously reported.
Protesters took to the streets after Jacob Blake, a Black man, was shot in the back several times at point-blank range by officers with the Kenosha Police Department.
A gunman opened fire on the third night of protests killing two people and injuring another.
The Village of Antioch Police Department said in a Facebook post a 17-year-old has been arrested in connection to the fatal shooting at the protest.
