The stepdaughter of former Vice President Kamala Harris said Tuesday she had to overcome “trauma” from the results of the 2024 presidential election when returning to the polling booth to vote for Democratic mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani of New York City.
Former Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo conceded the Democratic primary to Mamdani Tuesday. Ella Emhoff, a model who was born to the first wife of former second gentleman Doug Emhoff, posted about voting in the primary on Instagram.
“Feeling so many emotions about voting again,” Emhoff said in the post. “It was a little traumatic walking to the same voting place as I did in November, but I feel so much hope for New York and what @zohrankmamdani will bring.”
Former President Donald Trump secured the 270 electoral votes necessary to win the presidency early in the morning on Nov. 6, defeating Harris in the 2024 presidential election with 322 electoral votes to 226 for the then-vice president. Harris conceded the election in a speech at Howard University on the afternoon of Nov. 6, 2024.
