Failed Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake (R) tried to knock former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) — but also hit the 45th president.
On Sunday, Lake took aim at Christie for declining to sit down for an interview with former Fox News host Tucker Carlson.
“Hey — I just learned that you turned down a 1-on-1 interview with ,” she wrote in a tweet.
Lake continued, “If you aren’t prepared to sit in a chair across from Tucker, you certainly aren’t prepared to sit in the chair behind the Resolute Desk.”
“I hope you’ll reconsider Tucker’s offer,” she added.
Her comment comes after Carlson criticized Christie for not sitting down for a discussion with him.
On Sunday, the commentator shared an article about Christie, attacking his views on Ukraine and wrote, “Sounds like this could use a longer conversation. We just asked to sit down and explain his views on Ukraine.”
“You hate to think that Chris Christie is a blustery coward who plays the tough guy with sycophants at ABC but won’t answer real questions, but who knows? We hope he reconsiders,” he added.
Whether or not someone agrees to sit down with one particular commentator should not be the judge as to whether a candidate is prepared for the Oval Office.
But since this is the standard espoused by Lake, it is worth noting former President Donald Trumpblew off a discussion with Carlson last week.
And, by her logic, that means he is not prepared for the Oval Office.
The most ardent Trump supporters will come up with a way to excuse his decision while still criticizing Christie. But you should apply one standard for everyone and stick to it.
