Late-night show host Jimmy Kimmel warned his audience to read the fine print before buying President Donald Trumpāscommemorative UFC Freedom 250 and the nationās 250th anniversary celebrations.
Kimmel talked about the coin ā on sale for nearly $12,000 ā during his monologue Wednesday night.
He urged people to read the fine print attached to the coin. The coin is being sold through a partnership involving the Trump Organization.
āIt just so happens that the Trump family is offering a special Commemorative Coin with his head on it for this UFC event for the low, low price of only $11,999,ā Kimmel said.
He showed an image of the coin, which features an image of the president,
āYou can see though itās a beautiful coin. āJulius UF Caesarā is pictured. This is 1 ounce of pure PF70-rated gold,ā Kimmel said.
āJust by comparison, an ounce of PF70-rated gold in coin form without his head on it goes for about 4,500 bucks. So this is a deal,ā he added.
He then turned his attention to the productās disclaimer.
āIf you read the fine print, which they would prefer you do not do, you will learn that the coin is āintended for individual enjoyment only and not for investment purposes,āā he said. āāThis is not political, has nothing to do with any political campaign.ā āIt is not legal tender and has no face value.āā
āYou really have to hand it to Trump,ā Kimmel continued. āI mean, it takes a special kind of con man to sell your supporters money they cannot spend anyplace.ā
He said the White House issued a statement denying that the presidentās family was āprofiting off an event he forced onto the White House grounds.ā
Kimmel read a statement from White House spokesperson Davis Ingle, who recommended those pushing āfake newsā about āconflict of interestā should get themselves a āTrump Bible.ā
āRepent, for only $59.99,ā he added.
