Fox News host Lara Trump pushed back on comedian Bill Maher when he argued on his Monday âClub Randomâ podcast that her family was treated analogously to previous presidentsâ families.
Lara Trumpâs husband, Eric, published a book released in October, titled âUnder Siege: My Familyâs Fight to Save Our Nation,â which recounts the tribulations his family has experienced since his father, President Donald Trump, entered Politics. When Lara Trump asserted on Maherâs podcast that their family has faced unprecedented scrutiny and attacks, the comedian claimed that was natural due to her father-in-law being president.

âtâs not just that heâs the president, itâs that heâs Donald Trump as the president,â Trump retorted. âI mean, theyâve gone after all of us in such an aggressive way.â
âThey didnât go after Obama and Clinton in an aggressive way?â Maher asked.
Trump responded that what her family underwent was markedly different.
âOh, please,â Maher said.
âReally? When did you see Obama and Clintonâs residences, personal private property, raided by the FBI?â Trump asked. âWhen did they have indictments against them to put them in jail for the rest of their life that everybody can agree were a little outrageous, Bill? Like, really?â
Donald Trump accused the Federal Bureau of Investigation on Sept. 3, 2022, of searching former first lady Melania Trumpâs closet and drawers and their son Barronâs room during the Aug. 8, 2022, raid for classified documents. Moreover, the president faced unprecedented criminal indictments during his 2024 campaign.
Lara Trumpâs husband also refuted âThe Daily Tâ host Tim Stanley on Nov. 6 when he suggested that the attacks on his family were typical in Politics. Her husband rattled off examples that he argued were out of bounds, including the raid, indictments, subpoenas he and his siblings faced, alleged debanking and the now-discredited Steele dossier, which former Secretary of State Hillary Clintonâs 2016 campaign funded.
