Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) is watching whose company former President Donald Trump keeps. And he is concerned.
Graham said Thursday that Trump stay away from conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer.
âWe have policy disagreements but the history of this person is just really toxic,â Graham told the HuffPost. âI mean, she actually called for Kellyanne Conwayâs daughter to hang herself. I donât know how this all happened, but, no, I donât think itâs helpful. I donât think itâs helpful at all.â
Loomer sparked outrage earlier this week by posting on X, formerly Twitter, the White House will âsmell like curryâ if Vice President Kamala Harris is elected president in an apparent jab at Harrisâ Indian heritage.
She has also been a conspiracy theorist regarding the terror attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, calling them an âinside job.â
Loomer was been seen in the company of Trump this week â first at the Philadelphia airport before the debate on Tuesday, then at a ceremony to commemorate the anniversary of 9/11 on Wednesday in New York.
Graham, a Trump supporter, said he wasnât doing himself any favors by spending time with Loomer â and he is not the only one who feels that way.
âMarjorie Taylor Greene is right. I donât say that a lot,â Graham said.
âI think what said about Kamala Harris and the White House is abhorrent, but itâs deeper than that,â he said. âI mean, you know, some of the things sheâs said about Republicans and others is disturbing. I mean, to call for someoneâs daughter to hang themselves. Yeah, no, I think that the president would serve himself well to make sure this doesnât become a bigger story.â
Greene called Loomerâs statement regarding a possible Harris White House âextremely racist.â
âThis is appalling and extremely racist. It does not represent who we are as Republicans or MAGA,â Greene said. âThis does not represent President Trump. This type of behavior should not be tolerated ever.â
Loomer clapped back at Graham with a post on X, claiming Graham has ânever been loyalâ to Trump.
âHe got booed in his own state at a TRUMP RALLY and was booed off stage because he is DISLOYAL to Trump and the American people,â Loomer wrote about an event in February.
âIn the words of President Trump, âSenator Lindsey Graham is doing a great disservice to the Republican Party, and to our Country,ââ she added.
House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries (N.Y.) also spoke out about Trump and Loomer, calling it shocking, irresponsible and offensive.
âThe fact that on Sept. 11, this sacred day, he would bring a 9/11 conspiracy theorist to participate in events during this solemn commemoration should shock the conscience of all decent Americans,â Jeffries said Thursday at a press conference.
