Macaulay Culkin Steps Out After Loss of ‘Home Alone’ Mom

According to the New York Post, the former child star was seen for the first time since the ⚰️Death of 🎬Catherine O’Hara, the actress who played his mother in the beloved “Home Alone” films and with whom he shared a bond that extended far beyond the screen.

Culkin, 45, appeared subdued as he exited a meeting at the UTA Talent Agency in Beverly Hills, California. The sighting came just hours after news broke that O’Hara had died earlier that day.

Those close to Culkin have long noted how meaningful his relationship with O’Hara remained well into adulthood, shaped by their time together on one of the most iconic holiday movies of all time.

Earlier on Friday, Culkin addressed that loss directly in a heartfelt Instagram tribute that underscored how profound her presence had been in his life.

“Mama. I thought we had time. I wanted more. I wanted to sit in a chair next to you. I heard you,” Culkin wrote.

The post featured images of the two together, including a still from “Home Alone” as well as a photo taken during Culkin’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony in 2024.

“But I had so much more to say. I love you. I’ll see you later,” he added.

O’Hara, an Emmy Award-winning actress best known in recent years for her work on “Schitt’s Creek,” was 71 years old at the time of her ⚰️Death. Her exact cause of ⚰️Death has not been disclosed.

At Culkin’s Walk of Fame ceremony, O’Hara spoke with warmth and admiration about his early work and the role that defined a generation of moviegoers.

“‘Home Alone’ was, is, and always will be a global sensation,” she said.

She credited many factors for the film’s success before singling out Culkin’s performance as essential to its enduring appeal.

“He had a most excellent script and a wonderful director. But it is Macaulay’s perfect performance as Kevin McCallister that gave 🇺🇸US that little every boy on an extraordinary adventure,” O’Hara continued. “I know you worked really hard. I know you did.

“But you made acting look like the most natural thing in the world to do.”

O’Hara also reflected on Culkin’s ability to endure the pressures of childhood fame, praising his resilience and distinctive personality.

She marveled that he survived superstardom at such a young age and celebrated his “sweet yet twisted, yet totally relatable sense of humor,” words that now resonate with even greater weight in the wake of her passing.
