Bill Maher is taking President Joe Biden to task for his downer of a speech at Morehouse College.
The host of HBOâs âReal Timeâ appeared on Fox Newsâ âGutfeld!âand criticized the president for his message to Black Americans.
âI think itâs not helpful,â Maher said. âFirst of all, itâs anachronistic. I mean, that speech would have made sense some years ago.â
He continued:
âI think we should acknowledge that racism still persists, and we should always be making remedies for it. But, weâre not in the past. I always keep saying, âLetâs live in the year weâre living in.â Weâre not living in the year where you have to be ten times better to succeed if youâre a person of color.â
He added, âAnd in some instances, itâs an advantage. In some places, itâs not an advantage. But, weâre not living in that world that he is talking about. And I donât think that helps anybody.â

During a commencement address at Morehouse College, Biden painted a bleak picture of the state of the country.
âItâs natural to wonder if democracy you hear about actually works for you,â the president insisted. âWhat is democracy if Black men are being killed in the street? What is democracy if a trail of broken promises still leave Black â Black communities behind?â
Biden added, âWhat is democracy if you have to be 10 times better than anyone else to get a fair shot? And most of all, what does it mean, as weâve heard before, to be a Black man who loves his country even if it doesnât love him back in equal measure?â
