If thereās one thing Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) is resolving to not do is not support Rep. Mike Johnson (R-La.) in his quest to maintain his speakership.
Former Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) asked Massie if heād vote for Johnson if Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) would become the chairman of House Rules Committee, per The Hill.
Gaetz is the new host on One America News Network.
āOh no. You can pull all my fingernails out, you can shove bamboo up in them, you can start cutting off my fingers,ā Massie said late Thursday.
āI am not voting for Mike Johnson tomorrow, and you can take that to the bank,ā Massie added.
Massie has previously said Johnson is not up to the job as Speaker and is not what the Republican Party needs.
ā want a Speaker who inspires the public and who can make our case in the media, so we can keep the majority for the second half of Trumpās term,ā Massie posted on X on New Yearās Eve.
āJohnson nearly led us to the minority in what was a banner year for Trump,ā he wrote. āHe is certain to lose us the majority in 2026.ā
But not everyone is anti-Johnson as both President-elect Donald Trump and Elon Musk have endorsed Johnson.
āGood luck today for Speaker Mike Johnson, a fine man of great ability, who is very close to having 100% support. A win for Mike today will be a big win for the Republican Party, and yet another acknowledgment of our 129 year most consequential Presidential Election!! ā A BIG AFFIRMATION, INDEED. MAGA!ā TrumpĀ wrote Friday on Truth SocialĀ
