Co-host of ABCâs âThe Viewâ Meghan McCain quickly fired back at Senior White House adviser Ivanka Trump for defending her father, President Donald Trumpâs âunfilteredâ remarks and Twitter usage.
McCain, daughter of the late Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) who was often on the receiving end of the presidentâs criticism, took to Twitter with another definition for the presidentâs âcommunication style.â
According to McCain, Trumpâs âunfilteredâ tweeting is actually an expression of âcruelty and indecency.â
âItâs not a âcommunication styleâ, its cruelty and indecency,â she tweeted. âTrump said he didnât like POWâs who were captured, implied my father was burning in hell after he died and constantly trashed him while he was fighting brain cancer. This is how they have lost all decent people.â
McCainâs words came amid Ivanka Trumpâs speech introducing her father on the final night of the Republican National Convention.
âWhether you agree with him or not, you always know where he stands. I recognize that my dadâs communication style is not to everyoneâs taste,â Ivanka Trump said on Thursday night. âAnd I know his Tweets can feel a bit⌠unfiltered. But the results speak for themselves.â
She concluded, âDad, people attack you for being unconventional, but I love you for being real, and I respect you for being effective.â
Prior to Donald Trumpâs Republican presidential nomination acceptance speech, more than 100 of John McCainâs former staffers signed a letter to solidify their endorsement of Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.
While the staffers agreed that the decision was not an easy one to make, the commended Bidenâs âhistory of bipartisanship.â
These are unusual times, and this is not an easy decision for Republicans to make. Many of us disagree with the positions espoused by the Democratic ticket, but we are heartened by Joe Bidenâs history of bipartisanship.
The letter read, âWe trust that as President, Joe Biden will lead an urgent, comprehensive national effort to contain the COVID pandemic.â
