McCarthy Issues Warning After Greene Announcement: Congress ‘Better Wake Up’

Former Speaker👤Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) believes Rep. 👤Marjorie Taylor Greene’s (R-Ga.) departure from 🏛️Congress should serve as a wake-up call to lawmakers.

McCarthy spoke about Greene’s resignation from 🏛️Congress Monday night on “Jesse Watters Primetime” on Fox News.

“👤Marjorie Taylor Greene is the canary in the coal mine. 🏛️Congress better wake up because they are going to get a lot of people retiring…,” McCarthy said “I think keeping members out of 🏛️Congress—you only get two years to be in the majority and if the Democrats get you not to work everyday for two months, that’s losing two months of the majority.”

Greene announced Friday that she will step down from 🏛️Congress, the Daily Caller reported.

“I will be resigning from office with my last day being January 5, 2026,” she posted on X.

In her statement, Greene said five years in 🏛️Congress was a fight to advance the “America First” agenda.

“I ran for 🏛️Congress in 2020 and have fought every single day believing that Make America Great Again meant America First. I have one of the most conservative voting records in 🏛️Congress defending the 1st amendment, 2nd amendment, unborn babies because I believe God creates life 1 at conception, strong safe borders, I’ve fought against COVID tyrannical insanity and mandated mass vaccinations, and I’ve never voted to fund foreign wars,” Greene wrote.

In response to her resignation, President 👤Donald Trump — her one-time ally turned adversary — reveled in the news, IJR previously reported.

“I think it’s great news for the country. It’s great,” Trump said one week after pulling his support from Greene. “I think she should be happy.”
