Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) says she was “physically accosted” on the U.S. Capitol grounds on Tuesday.

“I was physically accosted tonight on Capitol grounds over my fight to protect women.” Mace wrote on X on Tuesday evening.

She added: “All the violence and threats keep proving our point. Women deserve to be safe. Your threats will not stop my fight for women!”

The Republican lawmaker also wrote, “One new brace for my wrist and some ice for my arm and it’ll heal just fine.”

Mace’s posts referred to her efforts to ban trans-identifying men from using women’s restrooms on Capitol Hill.

The U.S. Capitol Policetold CNN “they received a report just after 6 p.m. from a member of Congress’ office of an incident in the Rayburn Office Building,” as the outlet wrote. Officers and agents tracked down and arrested the suspect. The person was charged with assaulting a government official.
